GOLD

A song written from my poem GOLD, reconstructed into lyrics. This is something I been wanting to do since I first started writing poetry. How do I take this and turn it into a song? It was my constant conversation in my head. It seemed to allude me.

This poem was written for the people that felt like they were on a different page than everyone else. The people who would rather be by themselves, who recharge being alone. You know, introverts. Like myself. Who didn’t quite feel as appreciated in a world full of extroverts.

Those squeaky cogs that were always turning.

As an adult now I appreciate being who I am, the world needs us introverts.

we only come out
when we want to.
and we save our words
and string them into pearls
we have treasure chests full
and store them in deep waters
and shallow swimmers
won’t bother
and we place ourselves at the tops
of trees
it’s a lonelier place to be

but
perspective
is gold.

it’s a currency of the intuitive.
a treasure not given
to the weak.

there goes that weirdo
there goes that stray
we are a game to difficult to play

and I would say,
do not even try.
but my heart is human.
and it always hopes.
you will.

but my heart is human.
and it always hopes.
you will.

it always hopes you will

it’s a lonelier place
but perspective is
gold
